Since then, much has changed in the global perception of the problem and has indeed become an issue of great public concern. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development reflects the increased global awareness of the problem. One has to understand the difference between Food loss and food waste in order to tackle this problem. Food loss, as reported by FAO, it occurs from post-harvest up to, but not including the retail level (disposal of food along the supply chain) and it does not re-enter in any other productive utilization, such as feed or seed, whereas food waste is the food that is not used by retailers, food service providers and consumers. Examples of wasted food is the food that does not comply with the standard in terms of shape, color and size, foods that are discarded by the consumers and retailers, food which passes the expiration date and could be used and the large quantities of food that is unused such as in weddings, parties and banquets and also the left over from households and food establishments. Therefore, bringing people together to reduce food loss and waste in Kuwait is essential since everyone has a role to play and we need to align all actions to achieve the common goal of food waste management.   وفقًا لتقديرات منظمة الأغذية والزراعة في عام 2011، فإن حوالي ثلث الطعام في العالم يُفقد أو يُهدر كل عام. منذ ذلك الحين ، تغيرت  النظرة العالمية للمشكلة وأصبحت بالفعل قضية ذات اهتمام عام كبيروأصبح الوعي دافعا من أجل تحقيق  مؤشرات التنمية المستدامة لعام 2030 يجب على المرء أن يفهم الفرق بين فقد الغذاء وبين هدره من أجل معالجة هذه المشكلة. فقد أفادت منظمة الأغذية والزراعة أن  فقد الأغذية يجدث من فترة ما بعد الحصاد حتى مستوى البيع بالتجزئة (الفقد من الأغذية على طول سلسلة التوريد)، ولا يدخل الفاقد منها مرة أخرى في أي استخدام إنتاجي آخر، مثل  الأعلاف أو البذور، في حين أن هدر الغذاء هو الطعام الذي لا يستخدمه تجار التجزئة ومقدمو خدمات الطعام والمستهلكون مثل الطعام الذي لا يتوافق مع المعايير المعتمدة كالحجم والشكل واللون، وكذلم الأغذية التي تنتهي صلاحيتها بحيث يمكن اعادة استخدامها، علاوة على كميات الطعام الفائضة في الحفلات والمناسبات والمنازل  لذلك، فإن الشراكة المجتمعية للعمل على تقليل فقد الطعام وهدره أمر ضروري لأن لكل فرد دورا يؤديه. حيث يقوم هذا الحوار لزيادة  الوعي والتثقيف وتوفير المعلومات ليتمكن كل فرد/جهة من القيام بالأدوار المناطة به لمعالجة مشكلة فقد/هدر الغذاء. وقد قال تعالى في كتابه الكريم “وَلَا تُسْرِفُوا إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُسْرِفِينَ” سورة الأعراف – 31https://summitdialogues.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/شعار-دولة-الكويت-2.jpg
