“A sustainable food system is a food system that ensures food security and nutrition for everyone without compromising the economic, social and environmental foundations necessary for food security and nutrition for future generations” (HLPE, 2017).
The covid-19 pandemic has had adverse effects on many sectors including food systems. Indeed, millions of people were plunged into food insecurity in 2020.
Unprecedented challenges are needed for the resilience of food systems to future shocks. In this sense, young people have a role to play in finding solutions for food systems that are resilient to climate change.
In this dialogue the speakers and participants will identify the following two elements:
– What has been the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on food security and nutrition for young people around the world ?
– What are the 5 areas where young people have a role to play for the resilience of food systems: identify cases and practical solutions ?
