Descripción
Given the increase of negative socioenvironmental indicators, such as deforestation and conversion of natural ecosystems, as well as malnutrition and hunger in Brazil, for example – it is possible to affirm that there is a latent inconsistency in Brazilian food systems that urgently needs to be addressed.
There are those that produce healthy and socio-environmentally responsible food, in different production models and at different scales. But in particular small producers, who most often are those whose production is directly aimed at maintaining the Food and Nutritional Security of the Brazilian population, face the most diverse challenges – from the most primordial access to land, limited or almost non-existent availability of technical assistance and rural extension, dependence on excessive use of pesticides, unequal relationships and/or difficulties in accessing markets, among others. There is a scenario of heterogeneity, insecurity and uncertainty in the field as well, which decreases the resiliency of the food system as a whole.
The general objective of this dialogue is reflected in the division of groups, which will consider the voices of different stakeholders in the food value chain – including smallholders, representatives of traditional communities, civil society movements, and youth – in the discussion of solutions, and will take place in a way that it is possible to discuss the role of each one in promoting more sustainable food systems in the Brazil, with a special focus on issues of production and access to fair markets.
