Description
Universities in Africa, Science Technology and Innovations will drive for attainment of the SDGs in general and the Zero hunger (SDG 2) and No Poverty (SDG 1) that are anchored in the agri-food sector. RUFORUM a network of 129 universities in 38 countries in Africa is reaching out to stakeholders and agri-food sector players particularly universities, research institutions and, policy makers to dialogue on the solutions and actions for the appropriate agri-food systems in Africa.
Given the mandate, research institutions have the potential to develop empirically grounded bold new actions, solutions, and strategies that provide a holistic approach to key gaps, questions and concerns affecting the agri-food systems. This we believe will demonstrate the interconnectedness between science and policy and the influence of the university on the agri-food sector in Africa. Improvements in agri-food systems that is dominated by a youthful population will be driven by experienced and seasoned advocates of development for Africa by Africans. The dialogue brings together key actors to chart a pathway for linking science to practice in improving the agri-food sector. It builds on the independent University-policy regional dialogues hosted in East and Southern Africa, West Africa, Central Africa and the Vice Chancellors Forum: Towards a Common Voice from African Universities to the UN Food Systems Summit 2021
