Description
This dialogue will examine the issues relevant to enabling an affordable, secure, sustainable and resilient food system in Barbados. It will examine the critical issues and solutions in local and regional supply chains, improving the balance of trade, sustainable procurement, increasing local content, climate action, and exploring opportunities to create sustainable livelihoods for women, youth and informal sectors.
After framing remarks by Curators, participants will be divided into five facilitated discussion groups:
1. Increasing a access to high quality, safe and affordable healthy food (Facilitator: Marjorie Beazer)
2. Increasing access to nature positive at scale (Facilitator: Chris Chinapoo)
3. Scaling initiatives for improved mitigation, adaption and community resilience in response to the climate crisis. (Facilitator: Brandon Louis)
4. Initiatives to improve balance of trade and shorten supply chains/shipping lanes (Facilitator: Issa Baisden/Jerome Palmer)
5. Improving communication, awareness and training to support sustainable production and consumption (Christal Austin/ Dr. Adrian Daisley)
