Description
The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly relies on the appeal of Dr. Agnes Calibata, Special Envoy for the UN Food Systems Summit in organizing the Dialogue: Global food systems can only be truly transformed with a people’s summit.
The Eurasian Peoples’ Assembly invites all interested non-state and state structures to come to the table of this landmark UN Summit and take part in the Independent Dialogue in Support of the 2021 Food Systems Summit: “Different routes, similar goals”.
The Independent Dialogue aims not only to help raise global awareness and strengthen global commitments and action, but also to provide an opportunity for participants with different opinions to find common ground to combine their efforts.
An effective response to emergencies, saving lives of people at risk of hunger, achieving the goal of Zero Hunger by 2030 requires the coordinated work of several partners, whether humanitarian organizations, government or the private sector, as each partner brings his knowledge and ideas to the common cause. The main focus of the Independent Dialogue is to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which escalates into an economic crisis with serious implications for food security. Rising food prices due to supply chain disruptions can lead to an increase in the depth and extent of poverty. As well as the role of partnerships in achieving the SDGs and promoting post-era economic recovery.
Special attention within the dialogue will be paid to the most effective use of best practices, experience and knowledge as part of building independent interactions to achieve the SDGs in the Greater Eurasia – Africa and The Eurasian Economic Union
MODERATOR: MS. YULIA PETROVA – Professor, Ph.D., EPA Deputy Head of the General Secretariat for International Cooperation
