Description
With more than a million citizens and over 100 languages spoken, it’s no surprise that Birmingham’s food scene is full of flavor, diversity and culture. We are home to the biggest allotment in Europe; just one amongst hundreds of growing spaces in our city. There are more than 500 food and drink manufacturers in the West Midlands area and rich farmland across the region.
And yet our city faces many challenges when it comes to creating a healthy, fair, prosperous and sustainable food system. That’s why we are writing a strategy for food in Birmingham for the years ahead.
We need you to help us. Help us understand the needs and wants of citizens, businesses and communities, and explore how we work together, identifying opportunities, synergies and pathways towards a city that flourishes, nourishes and thrives.
We are holding a series of conversations to directly shape our strategy. You are invited to take part in our first conversation in which will discuss what a healthy Food City really means and how we get there together.
What are your priorities for change? Whose responsibility is it to create that change?
What can other actors in the Birmingham food system do to help you achieve your health and sustainability goals?
How do we create a more joined up approach to positive change in our city?
How can we create a system that is healthy and affordable whilst also being environmentally and economically sustainable?
