Description
The importance of food cannot be overemphasized. Part, if not most of our daily activities revolve around food whether as a farmer or the highest authority on the land. This makes us all part of the food system. For indigenous peoples, food is more than just physical existence – our food system is a life-way that respects and protects the diversity of nature, the past and the future generation. It persist because we persist.
In the context of so-called progress, however, indigenous food systems are confronted with overwhelming challenges from issues of ownership to capacities and behavioral barriers emerging from indigenous peoples’ shared experiences of continuing discrimination, aggression and violation of individual and collective rights. These, among others, will be the diving board of the dialogue, with the intention that by the end of the day, we will develop a list of specific and practical game-changing solutions anchored on the respect, protection and fulfillment of Indigenous Peoples rights.
