Description
The EAC, with technical Support from the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) will be hosting the East Africa Regional Independent Dialogue, in line with the 2021 UN-Food Systems Summit. This Regional Dialogue will be hosted under the theme “The Role of Regional Policies in Enhancing Trade and Building Collective Resilience to Vulnerability, Shocks and Stresses: Towards Improved Food Systems in East Africa”. Specifically, the Regional Dialogue aims to:
- Bring on board dynamic and strategic stakeholders and actors involved in region’s food systems to explore their respective roles, aspirations, and investment priorities.
- Provide a platform to discuss opportunities and Game Changing Ideas for driving food systems at regional level aimed at accelerating transformative actions in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Examine how trade within the region can be enhanced to benefit member states economies and improve welfare of households.
- Discuss policy options for strengthening the trade-related resilience of East Africa’s food systems to vulnerabilities, shocks and stresses.
- Synthesize insights and innovative ideas emerging from country-level dialogues to build and strengthen the regional common position on the food systems transformative agenda for Africa.
- Advance region’s game-changing ideas that contribute to the One Africa Voice to the 2021 UN Food System Summit
