Description
For each Action Track, Game-Changing Solutions are needed that can build momentum on food system transformation in a positive direction, at scale. The process for Ethiopia has so far involved the development of a Background Paper (Jan 2021); a joint High-Level Roundtable of the Government of Ethiopia and the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition (GloPan)(Feb 2021); and the first Ethiopian food systems dialogue on current and future prospects of Ethiopian foods (Mar 31 to Ap 1 2021).
Participants of Dialogue 1 were requested to submit the game-changing solutions, informed by what had emerged from the background paper, the Roundtable, and Dialogue discussions. An adapted version of the UNFSS 2021 Idea Sourcing Form was used. Other food system stakeholders were also requested to submit Game-Changing Solutions. 82 Game-changing solutions were received and reviewed by the Core Technical Team. 30 of these solutions met the criteria of being reasonably well developed and potentially actionable, scalable, and sustainable. Others that did not meet these criteria were put in a separate list for further development and reconsideration.
Objectives of Dialogue 2
(i) Discuss the Game-Changing Solutions by Action Tracks to decide which ones to take forward for the Ethiopian context.
(ii) Discuss the Game-Changers put forward to create a priority list.
(iii) Map the Game Changers to currently identified UNFSS2021 Action Areas by Action Track with provision to add additional Action Areas for the Ethiopia context where needed.
(iv) Organise the Action Areas that emerge into a conceptual framework to inform the development of the Position Paper and Roadmap
