Description
As a part of the United Nations Food Systems Summit Member State Dialogues, the Australian Government Department of Health is convening a dialogue, What role does food labelling play in helping to shift consumers towards healthier, safe and sustainable consumption? The dialogue is an invitation-only virtual roundtable discussion, taking place on Tuesday 13 July 2021, 10:30-12:00 AEST.
This dialogue will consider the role of food labelling to help shift consumers towards healthier, safe and sustainable consumption. The dialogue will feature short presentations from a number of key speakers from a range of areas including government, academia and industry. These short presentations will explore the following themes:
- how can food labelling motivate and empower consumers to make informed, healthy, safe and sustainable choices;
- innovative solutions to food labelling that are currently being used; and
- areas for future efforts in food labelling going forward.
The dialogue will also include a facilitated discussion, focussing on the above themes, with all attendees encouraged to participate in the discussion and share their knowledge and experience.
This dialogue has linkages to the work of Action Track 2 – Shift to sustainable consumption patterns. This roundtable provides a purposeful and organised forum for stakeholders share experiences, ideas, opportunities and solutions on the role of labelling in consumers making healthy, safe and sustainable food choices.
