National Food Security Webinar

This webinar on National Food Security, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries (MAFI) and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) is indeed timely, considering that Covid-19 has led to severe and widespread increases in global food insecurity, with impacts expected to proceed into 2022. Lockdowns imposed repeatedly has placed unprecedented pressure on food supply chains, undermining access to food and causing surging in food prices. According to World Bank (2021), global food prices have risen by 38% since January 2020; wheat prices are 28% and maize prices are 80% higher than in January 2020.
