Описание
Markets play a vital role in reaching foods to consumers. However, markets’ capacity to deliver fresh, safe and nutritious foods to the consumers are often compromised by rapid and unplanned urbanization, growing demands, changing consumer behavior, and absence of good governance, proper operations, and adequate infrastructures. This dialogue will bring together the stakeholders relating to fresh markets including the local governments, consumers’ associations, market management committees, policy makers, private sector actors, and development organizations to share their views, thoughts, and ideas aimed at positively transforming the operations of fresh markets as a part of the food system.
The dialogue envisions to develop an understanding of the specific challenges prevailing in and around the management of fresh markets that hinder reaching safe and nutritious foods to the consumers, identify possible actions, and to provide a shared platform to come up with a set of policy recommendations that will leverage fresh markets’ capacity to ensure access to safe and nutritious foods for all, in the way of attaining SGDs in Bangladesh throughout the coming years.
The event will be organized around five thematic areas and focus groups:
- Market system, supply chains, and urban-rural connectivity
- Role of markets in future food system (smart markets)
- Food safety and effective management of markets
- Consumer behavior and demands and their impact on the future of food markets
- Role of governance and infrastructure of the markets in food systems
We are delighted to invite you to join our journey towards building a sustainable, inclusive, equitable, and resilient food system for all.
