Description
The event opened the continuation of the National Dialogue on Sustainable Food Systems. “Farmers as Agents of Change” is the title of the event, which brings together farmers who are already driving change in a variety of areas and business forms.
After a three-day dialogue event in June 2021, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) initiated a longer-term National Dialogue process, curated by the President of the German Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE). With our Dialogue process, we aim to ensure broad participation of all relevant stakeholders, develop concrete and scalable proposals and compile best practices to make our food system future-proof. To this end, we have scheduled a number of events over the coming months and set up a digital dialogue platform. The platform is designed to be interactive and dialogue-oriented. It will facilitate the multi-sectorial exchange and networking of all food systems actors, covering not only the agricultural and food sector, but also health, education, consumers, science, civil society and public administration. Actors cannot only participate in various fora and events, they are also invited to join the process and become active with their own events and discussions. Specific attention will be given to the inclusiveness of the process. With the continuation of the National Dialogue, we aim to continue the work on the National Pathway and to develop an input to the German Sustainable Development Strategy.
