Description
This Independent Food Systems Summit Dialogue seeks to establish convergence among ongoing discussions around food systems transformation, climate action and building back better from COVID-19 ahead of the key summits in 2021, the Climate Adaptation Summit, United Nations Food Systems Summit, and the 26th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26). This is because transformative actions on food, climate, and efforts to build back better from COVID-19 are inextricably linked. We do this by convening a regional dialogue for Latin America, with diverse linguistic and stakeholder groups to discuss concrete actions to transform the region’s food systems.
The dialogue will be based on the findings of the landmark ‘Actions to Transform Food Systems Under Climate Change’ report and in alignment with the Action Tracks and levers of the United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021. We will secure participants views on proposed actions including protecting critical natural ecosystems; enhancing resilience and profitability of farmers; game changing ‘end to end’ solutions; sustainable finance; youth empowerment; food loss and waste; closing the gender gap; and nutritious and sustainable diets.
