Description
As part of the 2021 United Nations Food Systems Summit, San Antonio (United States of America), a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy since 2017, will convene on 22 May a local Food Systems Summit Independent Dialogue themed “Exploring the Local Food System Challenges & Opportunities to Build Sustainable Partnerships for the Future”.
The aim of this dialogue is to coordinate and initiate a holistic experience sharing platform for organizations and diverse community members to improve the sustainability and resiliency of the city’s food systems. In addition to raising awareness among civil society and the local inhabitants regarding the sustainable food systems challenges such as food security and food waste, the Dialogue intends to identify linkages, overlaps and gaps between the existing programs related to these topics, as well as to create new synergies and partnerships at the city level.
The Independent Dialogues are part of the 2021 United Nations Food Systems Summit with the aim of developing ways to actively engage various stakeholders in the upcoming UN Summit. These dialogues encourage active conversation between diverse local stakeholders including local policymakers, to devise crowdsourced sustainable solutions to strengthen local and global food systems. Dialogues will include debate, collaborations, and talks to reflect upon what actions and preparations are required to build a better future.
