Description
To make UN Food Systems Summit (FSS) “a people’s summit for everyone everywhere” and to engage a broad range of partnerships for scaling impacts, an ‘Independent Summit Dialogue’ is convened by the Member (China) of the United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021 Advisory Committee through an alliance with the private sector and civil society.
The Dialogue “Innovative Partnerships and Value Co-creation” will take place on September 15th, 2021 (9:00-13:30, CET; 15:00-19:30, Beijing time) in a hybrid form that combines online and offline meetings in Beijing. The event is hosted by the Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS) and jointly organized together with the Syngenta Group China.
Based on the agenda-setting themes and FFS guideline principles, the Summit Dialogue spotlights three themes:
- Food system transformation
- Food losses and wastes
- Digital innovation and serving agriculture, rural areas, and farmers
This Beijing Dialogue aims to foster a collective cognition and community in the public and private sector and to bring together the best ideas and practices of supporting food systems transformation and promote a national discourse and narrative that highlight the importance of food systems in climate, nutrition, human and other development priorities.
This dialogue is expected to help cultivate the enabling environment that distills a common vision of China’s agricultural transformation and the UN Secretary-General’s statement of action at the Summit.
