Description
The aim of the dialogue will be to showcase experiences and exchange lessons learned from China’s domestic accomplishments as well as international practices, with a specific focus on reducing food loss and waste. The dialogue will include deliberations that will outline inputs and recommendations for the Food Systems Summit as well as the International Conference on Food Loss and Waste organised by the Government of China.
The dialogue will be divided into two main parts: first, a plenary discussion where high-level speakers will introduce the lead topics of the event, such as the impact of reducing food loss and waste on food systems in general, and on the climate change commitment made by China – carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. Following the plenary discussion, three panels with a diverse set of stakeholders will intervene as discussants to provide their perspectives on the following sub-themes in a dialogue format: (1.) Reducing food loss in production, and processing; (2.) Reducing food loss and waste in supply chain; (3.) Financial innovations to reduce food loss and waste.
The dialogue will be held in Chinese and English with simultaneous translations between the two languages. All the participants will be invited to attend the event virtually.
