Globally young people account for approximately 24% of the working poor , particularly in Africa. For multiple reasons youth are an important demographic in development. First and foremost todays youth generation is the largest in history and the global population of young people is concentrated in low and middle income countries located. There’s a large untapped reservoir of employment opportunitiesin the agricultural sector which is increasing pinched by significant labour constraints in many areas of the world.we need to create a better food system that meets the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable. But our food systems are far more vulnerable without the active participation of the young people. To build a better food systems the young people must be leading the way.

African agriculture or farming is mostly hoe and machete which makes it very energy and labour intensive hence hindering many youth from engaging in agriculture.
